Elena was born on September 20, 2001. She lived at Orphanage #3 until August 15, 2002, when she was taken into foster care. Her natural mother was working at an orphanage for older children and has five children. She was unable to care for Elena.

Elena has a problem with her right eye—it is smaller than the other. Her foster mother took her to Iasi for surgery on the eye, and she is going again in August. It is hopeful that her eye will be made to look like her left eye. The patients and the staff at the hospital all loved Elena and her sweet personality.

Elena loves to walk and run. She’s a good eater and prefers yogurt, fruits, and borscht. Her social workers says she will be a talkative woman because she is “talking in her language all day.” She loves learning new words and will repeat what she hears from others.

Elena is very loved by her foster mother and father. They have 3 married boys, and always wanted a girl. They are thrilled to have Elena in their home.
